The origins of the Basque Country are unknown. We only know that defeated by the Wisigoths they left the valley of Ebre in Spain. They bought the kingdom of Vasconia in the Western Pyrennees. The Vascons mixed with the People of Aquitaine and became the Gascons. Their identity is quite strong. They are determined to keep their language and carry on speaking it in all the Basque villages. Their language is difficult and of unknown origins.
