Oliver Twist

On March 1st , we went to Sainte-foy-La- Grande to the cinema, to watch a startling black and white movie directed by the great English director
David Lean
in 1948 , Oliver Twist .

The story of the film is based on a novel written by the most influent English writer of the XIXth century , Charles Dickens .

The action takes place in XIXth century London , a very foggy , dirty and dark place at the time .The main plot is about a poor orphan , the young
Oliver Twist , who tries to survive in a rough world , composed of villains , thiefs and murderers .But he also meets nice people who will help him
and save him at the end .

Among the bad characters are Fagin , the professional thief , Sykes , the dangerous psychopath , but fortunately Oliver also meets Mr Bronlow ,
a nice gentleman , and Nancy a brave young girl .

Although the film is very dark , it has a happy ending , and everything ends well for Oliver Twist .

We enjoyed very much this film and we cheerfully recommend it to you all.
